she had abandoned us for the glory of retirement, and she had left us with an amazing legacy of worked in the 18 years she has been with the port. it is incredible what all the she has done for this city and the port in her time. she joined in december of 1992. looks like a few days before christmas. i still wonder who does that, but jennifer did, and she came in the real estate division where she spent approximately six years, and then, she moved over to the planning and development commission where she spent the remaining 12 years. i'm 18 years she has been here, she has been promoted six times, so that is a great batting average. jennifer, congratulations. jennifer, as you know, is responsible on the port side for the project at 1.5, 3, and 5, which is spectacular. simon, wherever you are, we're taking all the credit for that project, so congratulations, wherever you are. also for the exploratory project that is coming to us at pier 15 and eventually 17, says she has as two great projects under her belt as well as numerous other tendencies and projects under the way. it is unimagina

we used to do this probably twice a year in the past. because of constraints we are doing table top discussions and drills. we hope to do more large scale community drills. before a close i want to share a couple of other things we are working on for the future. worn is having to do with trying to security and purchase food and water suppliers for the community. a majority of san francisco population and the china town community few would have enough food and water to last 3 days. for many of the sro residents one issue is even if they could where would they store the food and water in the cramped places. we will have food bars or energy bars to be located throughout the china town area for those in need. also one. other things is to work with the city and local businesses. we saw in 89 when folks accesses restaurants, markets, stores to access food supplies they were denied. we are trying to set up a system working with the local businesses to empower them to distribute their foods with the promised they will be reimbursed by the city f

this is a vision and a plan that this school board, all of administration, all of us have been working on foor a long time and it's exciting to be able to present that this evening so you get an understanding of what's going to be different, where we're going, what are the thoughts behind doing something like this. and we believe that in looking at our data, by focusing in a little bit more and having the support that schools have to have in order to be successful, by developing these two zones in our areas that need the most assistance, because that's where our persistently low-performing schools are at. we need to intervene, we need to do something, and we can't wait any longer. even though they've shown phenomenal growth, i want to give a little shout-out to malcolm x. because malcolm x elementary school, believe it or not, has an a.p.i. score of 800 this year. applause plause so they've grown by over 200 in two years. thank you so much for joining us at el cafe. we want to thank lourdes for housing us this morning. this was a really wonderful opportunity for us to get the community more involved. as many of you know we've been working really hard on our truancy and wanting to get our kids in our schools, staying in our schools, and make sure they're doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing. this effort has been a true effort between the city, the school district, and so many of our partners in the community, and this launch today is really about involving our community, our larger community, in what it is that we're trying to do. and so we want to just thank all of our community partners who are here, urban services, maria sue from the department of children, youth, and families. the s.f. police department, who has been really instrumental in making sure that our truancy process goes well, and captain lazar is here from the police department. want to thank him for all of his efforts and supporting what we're doing. and i have from the school district superintendent garcia and our mayor, w
